It all began with an idea in 1954.
It was during the annual Council inspection in the suburb of Burwood that Councillor L R McCredden suggested that the area south of Gardiner’s Creek opposite the Box Hill Golf Club be set aside for use as a bowling green.
Fast-forward to today, the “Wood”, as the locals know the Bennettswood Bowls Club, has become the heart of bowls enthusiasts across the south eastern suburbs of Victoria.
